Mom's Craft Day Post No. 1.

I think I may have mentioned it before on here, but once a month I try to organize a craft day for some of my mom friends. We've been doing it for 3 years now and I look forward to it each month. It's some nice, much needed, girl time when living with 5 guys! We eat, drink, chat, and craft. During the Fall and Holiday months I try to think up a craft that pertains to the season. This past weekend we made decorative signs with a Fall/ Thanksgiving theme.
It was the most easy craft we have done to date, and there have been a couple easy ones. All of the materials came from the dollar section at Target and cost just under $7 after tax per person.
We began with these round wood "canvases".
The bonus to these is they were painted with a pretty navy chalkboard paint and had pretty, copper glitter on the edges to them already.
Then we used these adhesive wood cutouts to decorate our canvases with.
A little tip when deciding how to arrange your design, the cut outs are all on the same plastic piece in the packaging so if you separate them by cutting each piece out, you can arrange and rearrange until you find a design you like. Although they have an adhesive back, they can be taken off with a little effort (if you do stick it onto the wood) and will still re-stick pretty good if you mess up and don't like where you placed it... That may have happened a few times.
See super easy right? It also came with the string to hang already attached. So really the only think we had to do with this craft was decide on how we wanted the cutouts arranged. All of these materials should still be available in your local Target dollar spot. If not, I've seen similar pieces at craft stores like Michael's, Joann's, and Hobby Lobby. I'm not sure if their cutouts have a sticky back but some E6000 can fix that.
Happy crafting!

Summer to Fall in the South.

If you live in the South, you might be like me, craving a Fall wardrobe but sweat at the thought of wearing heavy sweaters, jeans, and boots while it's still in the 90's. The "change so seasons" always has me wanting to refresh my closet and sends me searching all of my favorite shops (and this morning I was even a little chilly walking Heidi girl). I thought I'd share some of my favorite pieces I came across recently that are not only perfect transitional pieces but most happen to be in the clearance sections also!

The top and bottom rows are all from while the middle row items are from,, and And most of these items may or may not be on their way to my closet right now...

Into Fall in the South is also having an extra 50% off clearance items which makes their pieces an even bigger steal! is having an extra 30% off sale items, isn't having an extra sale ontop of their clearance but this dress used to be $118 and is now less than $35 so it's pretty crazy already!

Have you found any good deals lately? If so please share! Now if only the weather would catch up to the calendar!

Kitchen Chair Inspiration

Guess what?! We're building a house! I'm so excited, my head is spinning with ideas! I'll be sharing progress on it as it moves along as well as sneak peeks, I can't wait till they break ground! If you follow along on Instagram, then you might have seen we already had our design center meeting, and survived it. We were able to get just about everything we wanted on our wish list. There was only one detail they say they aren't able to fulfill that left me a bit disappointed but I'll get to that in another post. For now I'm thinking about our kitchen, mainly the breakfast nook area. We are in need of a new kitchen table as ours has been taken apart and put back together too many times I think that it's just too wobbly no matter what we do to fix it. Our chairs are still in decent shape structure wise but they really need a makeover. The finish is horrible thanks to all of the little hands and art projects in the house.
I've been browsing Pinterest lately and while I've always loved mixing and matching tables with chairs, I've started contemplating going with a fun color on the chairs. Not sure if I will refinish our chairs or opt for new ones but here are some of the inspiration pictures I've found recently with not so neutral color chair options...
I couldn't find the link to this picture.

These next pictures might be a bit too loud for me but I still love how they look!

Can you guess which color I'm contemplating most? I've rounded up some of my top picks below. They're all from and won't break the bank. (Follow the link below to my polyvore site and you'll be given a direct link for each product)

Now tell me, do you prefer neutral colors all around, or do you like a pop of color around the kitchen table?

An Apple for the Teacher: First Day of School Gift Idea.

So yesterday my kids went back to school (imagine me as the dad in the Staples commercial singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"). I love them but this mama needs a vacation from the summer! If you follow along on Instagram, you may recall 2 of my kids switching schools half way through last year and deciding to homeschool my oldest after our beloved school of 5 years started heading south. We know a lot of the families at our new school but I don't know the teachers or staff that well so I thought maybe a nice little back to school present for our teachers may be in order, yes I was the teacher's pet growing up. I had the idea of taking the traditional apple gift and updating it a bit.
I fell in love with a candle by DW Home called Fresh Apple Tart. It smells amazing if you're looking for a good autumn time candle soon (you can find it at Tj Maxx). When I went to pick some up for the teachers, I couldn't find that exact scent but I did find Apple Cider which smells amazing too, so we went with that option.

I wrapped each one with a ribbon (I added a little bit of tape on the bottom and top to keep the ribbon from sliding off). Also a good way to remove those pesky, sticky price tags is to use a hair dryer. Just point it to the sticker for a minute and it will come off in one easy peel.

Before we left for school we wrapped them in tissue paper and placed them in little red gift bags with this prinout I found as a little note of encouragement for the start of a new year.

And since I have apples and Autumn on the brain, I found a few more apple options that might make cute teacher gifts if you want to go with an updated take on the traditional gift. Click on the numbers below to go to each product directly.

(Blogger is not letting me link to all of them, but if you go to the websites listed and search for "apple", they will pop up. I'll keep trying to set up the links if it ever allows me)

So tell me, are you ready for school to be back in so you can recoup after summer break, or are you wishing summer break would never end?

Friday's Favorite Dozen: Pillows

If you're like me, you can NEVER have enough throw pillows! In my opinion they are the fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to update the look of your room. Here are a dozen I'm crushing on this week (links below)...

A couple of them seem to be sold out since I created this board but I'm hoping they come back soon!

So tell me, what's your favorite way to make a quick change in your home?

Friday's Favorite Dozen: Target Winter/Spring 2016

Yesterday I ran into Target, as quickly as I could since all 4 kids are with me in tow everywhere now due to the decision to home school a couple of weeks ago, and fell in love with all a few of the items I managed to sneak a peek at before the kids fell apart. Here are my top dozen on the wishlist that I'm hoping will find a place here in my home before too long... (click on the matching numbers below to be brought to that item).
